Recently Issa Rae who created many sources of entertainment for us, (Insecure anyone? ) is not only making moves but is paving her own way in the media industry. So this brings the question, what is holding you back from creating your own legacy?
Issa Rae believed in herself to produce and create her own content through the Youtube platform without knowing where she would end up. From that risk gave her opportunities that brought her to where she is today.
The Media Industry is a hard field to break into, with many doors closing on her before those same doors welcomed her in. She made them see her. What fire do you have in yourself that you want the world to see? I know you have dreams, goals, a vision of how you want your life to be like. So why aren't you taking those steps to get there? Is it fear ? Is it self-doubt ?
Well I would like for you to write those goals, and to create plans for each of those goals to be attainable.
For example,
Goal: I want to have a Youtube Channel.
Steps: Need to create a page, Create a channel banner, thumbnail, icon on Canva, Learn how to edit, Create Video Ideas, Have a uploading schedule, promote my page, Have a niche, etc.
Once you know what you need to do and set steps that are intentional and focus on the goal being completed no matter how it looks, then it will be easier to accomplish. Because perfection is overrated and you will not improve if you don't get up and fall again. When you do this, repeat the steps again. It won't feel as intimidating when you are doing it for a second time rather than the first time.
Another Example,
Goal: I want to pursue music.
Steps: What genre do you want to make music in?
What platform do you want to post your music on?
Will you write the music or just have covers?
Or invest in a songwriter?
Will you create your own instrumentals?
How are you going to gain followers?
How often will you post content?
Have a vocal teacher, have a trusted person to critique your music?
Perform at bars, venues, open mic nights.
A big point I want to make in this is to INVEST IN YOURSELF!!!!!! NO MATTER WHAT. INVEST IN YOUR DREAMS, INVEST IN YOUR SANITY, INVEST IN WHAT WILL BENEFIT YOU!!!!
Issa did that and look where she is now. What if the next person to win is you? Think about it and be about it. (Beyonce' voice)
